State of Past Simple


Formulas:-

·         Affirmative : Sub+was/were+obj(Noun or Adjective)
·         Negative     : Sub+was/were+not+obj(Noun or Adjective)
·         Interrogative      : Was/were+Sub+Obj(Noun or Adjective)+?
·         InterroNegative : Was/were+not+Sub+Obj(Noun or Adjective)+?

Short Forms:-

·         Was not = wasn’t
·         Were not = weren’t

Uses of Was and Were:-

·         Was :- It is used with I,He,She,It and with any singular name.
·         Were :- It is used with We, You,They and all plurals.

Examples:-

·         He was a doctor.
·         I was worried.
·         You were studious.
·         Were you in institute?
·         Weren’t you there?
·         What was that?
·         Where were you?
·         How was he?
·         Who was that person?
